Poll numbers there had languished around 40% all spring.

The USOC is hoping to finalize plans by the end of August prior the IOC deadline but Probst and Blackmun refused to reveal any details on what needs to be discussed and worked out prior to coming to an agreement. Following an introduction by President Barack Obama in front of a crowd of 62,388, the Los Angeles School of Gymnastics team comprised of over 35 of its best athletes kicked off the event as they tumbled down the red carpet on live television from all disciplines of the Summer and Special Olympics to include Rhythmic Gymnasts, Men’s Gymnastics, Women’s Artistic Gymnasts and Tumbling athletes reclaimed the attention that dated back to the 1984 Summer Olympic Games.

In a statement, Garcetti promised a Los Angeles Olympics would inspire the world, “unite our communities, generate significant economic benefits, and with our world-class venues, be affordable and profitable”.
Salt Lake City originally intended to bid for the 2022 games, but couldn’t because the USOC instead decided to prepare bids for 2024 and 2026.
