Mayor of Alaska Capital Found Dead
The newly-elected mayor of Alaska’s capital city has been found dead.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.
Police said they received a 911 call about 3:34 p.m. (7:34 p.m. ET) reporting that there was a dead person at the residence of Fisk, 70, who was elected mayor last month.
“At this time it is an unattended death so it’s in the very early stages of an investigation”, said JPD spokeswoman Erann Kalwara.

A police statement added: ‘Juneau Police Department is aware of rumors that an assault occurred in connection with Fisk’s death. “Detectives are actively investigating facts of the occurrence and all evidence is being preserved and documented”.
District 1 Assembly member and deputy Mayor Mary Becker confirmed she will step up as acting mayor, reports KTVA.
Prior to entering politics, he had worked as a self-employed consultant for area fisheries.
City and Borough of Juneau clerk Laurie Sica said the city will issue a press release tomorrow with details on how city government will operate.
