‘Maze Runner’ to resume production in February
The filming process of the scifi pic has been shut down indefinitely last April, after O’Brien was physically injured on the set.
But Deadline is reporting that production will start up again in February 2017, the month the film was originally set to hit theaters.
It’s been a long, hard road to get to the third Maze Runner movie The Death Cure on screen after lead actor Dylan O’Brien was seriously injured on-set earlier this year, but now, production is finally back on track.
The film is set to open in 2018.
FOX released a statement saying that the actor’s injuries turned out to be more serious than what was first reported in March. O’Brien fell from the set and fractured either his cheekbone or orbital socket. The film should now hit the big screen January 12, 2018. O’Brien’s injuries weren’t the only thing causing a delay, as it took some time to work out schedules for his returning co-stars and crew members, who had been released when production was suspended.
Production on the long delayed The Maze Runner: The Death Cure will resume in February of 2017. But other portions of the film will be shot in a new location.
A report from WorkSafeBC described his injuries as including a “concussion, facial fracture and lacerations”.
As with the previous two movies in the franchise, Maze Runner: The Death Cure is directed by Wes Ball from a screenplay by T.S. Nowlin, adapting the YA novels of James Dashner.
Like The Maze Runner, the movie is based upon a popular book series.
