McAdoo says Giants will play to win, Vegas doesn’t believe him
Not only is it completely shady but both teams will want to win the NFC North and the home playoff game that comes with it.
And, so, all of us can watch Josh Norman and OBJ square off on Sunday afternoon and cheer Washington on in an intense NFC East showdown without fear that the Redskins will be cheated out of a playoff berth if they win. The game means everything to Washington, which is fighting for the final NFC playoff berth, and absolutely nothing to NY, which is locked in as the No. 5 seed no matter what happens.
And in Washington’s four victories since Kelley earned a spot in the starting lineup, the Redskins have collected more rush attempts (116) than pass attempts (113).
“It’s Week 17, we should be mentally sound”.
“It’s not looking good”, Redskins coach Jay Gruden said.
If the Lions win the division and a home playoff game, they could meet the Cowboys again in the second round. Beckham, who will play in his first postseason game, recognizes that the team can’t afford to look past the Redskins.
The Redskins are 8-6-1 this season, and need one more win, plus some additional help, to make the playoffs – either a Dallas Cowboys victory Monday, or a Detroit Lions victory on Sunday. The 10-5 Giants have secured the 5th seed in the NFC playoff picture.
Ben McAdoo told reporters on Wednesday he does not intend to rest his starters in the final game of the regular season, despite his Giants already clinching a Wild Card spot in the playoffs. Like Herman Edwards says, “you play to win the games”.
I mean, why wouldn’t they other than (1) ethics, (2) the spirit of competition, and (3) the inevitably massive fines and penalties the league office would hand down after the fact? “They’re going to have to play somebody”, Gruden said Monday.
This is good news for quarterback Eli Manning’s consecutive streak, which sits at 209 games.
When you weigh the pros and cons of playing the key players as oppose to resting them, the results are obvious. It makes you feel like you’re ready to go into the postseason. It’s exciting. We have an opportunity to go play a division opponent.
Cousins has posted three 400-yard passing games, breaking the Redskins’ single-season record ahead of Sonny Jurgensen and Mark Rypien.
Stafford, a championship-winning high school quarterback in the Dallas area, had a 1-yard scoring plunge, but was sacked four times matching a season high nearly two years after losing a wild-card game at the Cowboys.
While playoff seeding and match-ups are at stake, the Giants first and foremost want to emerge from the Washington game without any more significant injuries. “So they’re all important and this one is no different”. It’s a double move that sells a short stick route before the wide receiver breaks up the seam. But even with two deep safeties for the vast majority of the first game, Beckham still had seven catches for 121 yards. “We’re going to play the players active in the ballgame”. The Giants turned the ball over three times that day and had 11 penalties for 128 yards.
The Redskins have their backs against the wall.
“We were battling. We were battling out”, Ebron said.
