McConnell Breaks With Trump, Opposes Nuclear Option To End Government Shutdown
The White House said he was in regular contact with Republican leaders, but he has not reached out to any Democrats, a White House official said.
Highlighting the deep political polarization, crowds estimated in the hundreds of thousands marched through major United States cities on Saturday against the president and his policies and express support for women’s rights.

McConnell opposes using the nuclear option to end the government shutdown.
Trump was scheduled to attend a lavish fund-raiser at his Mar-a-Lago estate on Saturday evening.
President Trump was largely quiet on the issue over the weekend, though he suggested in a tweet on Sunday morning that Republicans should change Senate rules to allow the bill by a simple majority. Under this unified control, it was the Republican job to govern, it was their job to lead … they have failed.
In the midst of the stalemate, President Trump’s re-election campaign released an ad declaring that “Democrats who stand in our way will be complicit in every murder committed by illegal immigrants”, a stance that did little to improve the negotiating climate. President Trump rescinded DACA in 2017, saying that he was transferring the problem to Congress, so that it could find a more enduring, legislative, solution to an issue that has attracted widespread public sympathy.
The House has pointedly made no agreement to take up DACA legislation, even if it passes the Senate.
“We passed a bill keeping things funded to February 16”, Ryan said Sunday. And Republicans failed to win enough Democratic support in the Senate to bring it to a vote. He gave Congress until March to resolve the issue.
“Democrats are far more concerned with Illegal Immigrants than they are with our great Military or Safety at our risky Southern Border”.

Social Security and most other safety net programs are unaffected by the shutdown.
The former SC congressman is also a founding member of the House Freedom Caucus, which could give him influence over conservative lawmakers in selling any compromise that emerges.
Graham, talking to reporters on Capitol Hill Sunday, pointed a finger at immigration hard-liners like Stephen Miller, one of President Trump’s top White House advisers.
“I don’t see any of our people interested in some half-baked idea that’s produced by a self-appointed group of senators”, congressman Tom Cole said according to Roll Call.
