McConnell Eviscerates Hillary at RNC: Scandals ‘Follow the Clintons Like Flies’
United for a night, Republicans nominated Donald Trump Tuesday as their presidential standard-bearer, capping the billionaire businessman’s stunning takeover of the GOP and propelling him into a November faceoff with Democrat Hillary Clinton.
Day 2 of the Republican Convention in Cleveland is underway.
In a speech that featured a single brief section devoted to GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, McConnell explained why he endorsed the NY real estate mogul after months of hesitating.
“When Donald Trump is elected president, he will determine the future of the Supreme Court”, said Wicker.
“The facts and details of her life and career disqualify her”, he said.
McConnell listed the bills that the Senate, under his direction, has passed and President Barack Obama has vetoed: A repeal of the Affordable Care Act, a bill demanding approval of the Keystone pipeline, and an end to federal funding for Planned Parenthood.
“Two years ago voters delivered a clear verdict on the Obama years by sending a freshman class of rock-star Republicans to the Senate, and delivering us a majority that I promised to make you proud of”. Only under Donald Trump and Mike Pence do we have a chance at a better way.
But he praised bills passed with bipartisan support that Obama signed, including new K-12 school polices, long-term highway projects, and legislation to combat heroin and opioid abuse.
“Let us continue our work”. Not just because a Republican Senate would check and balance a new President Clinton, but because a Republican Senate would (supposedly) compel a victorious Trump to rubber-stamp the Republican agenda. “People who are running this year are not going to be here the whole five days and I think that’s very common”.
But other Republicans felt like the show of disapproval for the Majority Leader was less about Trump and more about unfocused frustration with Washington. Let’s keep the Senate. He is set to attack Hillary Clinton – that won’t be hard for him. We made the first significant reforms to Social Security in three decades.
