McConnell: Obamacare repeal ‘high-item on the list’

But if there is any level of mistrust between Ryan and Trump, it’s easy to see where it came from.

Now comes the hard part.

Trump called Obama’s executive order to require background checks on firearms sold at gun shows an assault on the Second Amendment, and vowed he would “unsign that so fast”.

Vice President Joe Biden was also expected to host Pence at the White House later Thursday afternoon. Pence’s years in Congress and his executive experience as governor of in make him the go-to guy for navigating the labyrinth that is Washington. Among those are Maine, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, which hadn’t backed a GOP presidential candidate since the 1980s, leaving both parties trying to discern how much Tuesday may have reordered the lineup of blue, red and swing states. This is an opportunity that comes along once in a century.

But Trump’s campaign relations with his party could signal that his party may not always unite behind him.

“He’s got a lot of challenges ahead of him, which I’m sure he’s aware of”, says GOP pollster David Winston, an adviser to Republican congressional leaders.
