McDonald’s Is Stepping Up Its Fry Game With SWEET POTATO FRIES
McDonald’s official Texas Panhandle Twitter account subtly slipped in an announcement about the new menu item, calling sweet potato fries “the ideal side to go with your flawless burger”.
McDonald’s first rolled out sweet potato fries last September and although it took a year to make it stateside, we’re going to hope they make it to Ireland sooner than that.
“Sweet-potato fries are being tested in a few Create Your Taste test restaurants in Amarillo, and we’re gathering valuable customer feedback on them”, a spokesperson told Eater, meaning that it looks like we’re not quite at peak sweet potato, but it could be on the horizon. 2015 is the first year in its history McDonald’s is planning to close more restaurants than it opens.
Good ol’ Mickey D’s already serves sweet potato wedges plus garlic aioli (*heavy breathing*) in Australia.
According to Google Trends, the public’s interest on sweet potato is continually increasing.
In its latest effort to re-energise the declining fast-food chain, McDonald’s is taking the bold step of reinventing the humble french fry.
