McGregor’s Army Invades Vegas For The Fight of The Century
The headline event will see Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo finally meet for their title unification fight and Las Vegas will be a sea of green as Irish fans from right around the world flock to Sin City.
Would the UFC be interested in pushing it say 6-8 months down the line, however, so that McGregor could fight for the 155 belt in the meantime?
It’s easy to get jaded when you watch 6,742 fights per year and I like being able to look at a fight card and not know who is going to win, or how a particular contest is going to end. Fourteen of his wins come via KO, so let’s take a look at a few of them to appreciate the violence Aldo brings to all his fights.
“I think it will be by KO”, McGregor said. Then came the rib injury that booted him from UFC 189 and by the time he was re-booked for UFC 194, the Brazilian re-opened as the underdog. I’m going to embarrass Jose in there.
Southpaw McGregor, however, is predicted to cause trouble for Aldo, who has only faced one left handed competitor in his last 11 fights. From a business prospective, Conor is the draw for the UFC and you can expect Saturday to mark the start of a new era in the Zuffa organization or the group will still be searching for its next top star.
Is this the evolution of the fighter who’s been compared to Mohammed Ali, or is it simply just a man uber focused on the biggest, and toughest, fight of his life? I don’t need to gather any more intel, any more research.
He’s essentially had two fight camps back-to-back, preparing for the same opponent and Aldo also didn’t have to go through the draining stages of the weight cut that McGregor did in July.
A fight between two “drunk” Irish passengers on a plane from NY to Las Vegas this morning forced the pilot to turn the plane around mid-air.
‘I’m sitting in between a group of Americans on the flight and I heard them stereotyping the Irish when all of the drunken Irish lads got on.
With that said, the division’s only ever champion and pound-for-pound best fighter has flown under the radar in what has become a never ending procession of press conferences and interviews. “I can’t see his face or his body at the beginning of the second round”.
He also spoke of how the flight was already delayed out of The Big Apple when one man was removed because he kept interrupting the safety briefing.
