McIlroy’s on the ball
The world’s No 1 golfer ruptured anterior ligaments last month while playing football with friends.
But a video of him working out in the gym, and two pictures showing his ankle a few weeks ago, suggest that the Northern Irishman is working hard and confident of a return sooner rather than later.
Accompanied with the message, “Feels good to hit the driver again!”, McIlroy shared a short clip on his Instagram account of him playing from a tee.
The 26-year-old has yet to say whether he will be able to defend the US PGA Championship next week and on Tuesday his publicist denied reports he had scheduled a practice round at Whistling Straits on Saturday.
Still no official word from Camp McIlroy on whether he’ll defend his title at next week’s PGA Championship, though the BBC reported Wednesday that an update possibly would be coming Thursday.
Some medical experts said the injury suffered by McIlroy normally takes about 12 weeks to heal.
He’ll be back in action in no time with this sort of training, and is it just us or does it actually look like a bit of fun too?
He has been forced to sit out the Scottish Open, The Open and this week’s WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
