McIlroy will miss British Open
The Texan, 21, has claimed the first two Majors in 2015 and is now bidding for three in a row at The Open.
Rory McIlroy is not. Now he is the man to beat.
Richie Ramsay, a European Tour player and ex- U.S. Amateur champion, suffered the same ankle injury two years ago while running. He injured ankle ligaments while playing soccer with friends, announcing the injury on Monday and saying he was already undergoing daily treatment.
But it is still something that is on Spieth’s radar.
“I was runner-up in 2008 and tied for third in 2013, close but no cigar so it would be nice to swap the silver salver for the silver jug at some stage”, he said smiling. “I thought he’d get it done around there”.
“I’ve never been closer”.
The Open Championship has been played since 1860 and this year’s event marks the 40 anniversary of Tom Watson’s first of five Open Championship victories (at Carnoustie in 1975 in a playoff over Jack Newton of Australia). “I had full control over all the clubs”, said Woods, now ranked an eye-popping 220th in the world. It will be hard for him to sit at home and watch it on TV but sometimes these things happen and it makes you come back even stronger. The Open will be without No. 1-ranked Rory McIlroy, and Woods was aware of the ankle injury before most.
Ultimately, the debate will rage on now and any time a star athlete get’s hurt off the field, but at least we know that Rory’s peers have his back.

“It’s definitely been a tough year with my game”, she said.
Not that reeling in a 12-foot shark was an easy achievement.
