Medical examiner: Death of 1-month-old boy ruled homicide
New York City police say a newborn baby boy was found dead with severe head trauma in an apartment building courtyard and may have fallen or been thrown out of a window.
The lifeless body of Rizwan Ahmad was discovered in the courtyard area of an apartment building on 115th Street near Myrtle Avenue, police said.
Horrified neighbors told 1010 WINS’ Mona Rivera that the infant was thrown out the window of an apartment on the top floor of the four-story building. The baby was found in a blue-and-white onesie.
Neighbor Mazol Ilyayeva had found the baby and called 911. “Just like a book thrown out the window”, the woman said.
An autopsy will determine the official cause of death. “For some reason, something told me inside to go downstairs, and then I see that”. There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
Police said they were now questioning six people about the incident, which includes family members, police said.
Ilyayeva said she saw the family leaving with the police.
