Medical Examiner: Slain WDBJ Journalists Were Both Shot in the Head
The internal memo branding Parker a racist was thrown out by TV executives and it was Flanagan who was eventually axed for his inappropriate behaviour.
Flanagan, who also went by the professional name of Bryce Williams, shot Alison Parker, 24, and Adam Ward, 27, dead on Wednesday morning. Authorities later said Flanagan apparently was the author of a 23-page manifesto sent to ABC News that listed his grievances and defended the shootings as retribution for the massacre at a church in Charleston, S.C. Somehow, she was able to stand up and walk to an ambulance with a bullet in her body.
A spokesperson for the Franklin County (Va.) Sheriff’s Office, which is leading the investigation into this week’s shooting, on Friday did not return the Washington Blade’s request for comment.
The medical examiner’s office in Roanoke revealed Friday that Parker sustained gunshot wounds to the head and chest, while Ward was struck in the head and torso.
Gardner was shot once in the back.
The gunman continued to pull the trigger but the gun jammed, Tim Gardner said. “She was ducking and dodging and ended up on the ground, kind of hunched over, and he shot her in the back”.
“We, as people, need to reach out to hurting people“.
“Yesterday was the worst day of my career”.
The visitor center was scheduled to reopen Saturday.
Flanagan killed two of his former colleagues on Wednesday during a live broadcast and later died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The gunman, Vester Flanagan, a disgruntled former reporter for WDBJ, later killed himself.
Flanagan filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and a civil action suit, which were dismissed, he said.
“She did not really know what he was upset about, specifically”.
“This was being recorded by Adam Ward; Bryce turned his attention to him and said something about paparazzi, told Adam he needed to “lose your big gut”, and again flipped the camera off”, the memo notes, according to WBAL. The murders have brought out both supporters for a more rigid gun control policy then you have those who believe that any compromise on gun control is a revocation of their rights under the Second Amendment.
He said he owned three guns and called background checks “common sense”.
Parker’s boyfriend, not yet ready to take a stance on gun laws because he is a journalist, instead remembered the couple’s whitewater kayaking trip just one week ago.
“I don’t think we identified that he had mental health issues”.
