Shoppers Drug Mart is looking to get into the medical marijuana business.
Tse said the company is beginning to educate pharmacy staff in preparation for selling medical marijuana, but there is still no information about how the system will work.
“London Drugs is not doing anything with medical marijuana today, but we anticipate that most likely the legislation will change to enable medical marijuana to be more accessible”, John Tse, vice-president of pharmacy for London Drugs, told Metro.

According to The Globe and Mail, Shoppers Drug Mart Corp. has been in contact with medical marijuana suppliers via phone and in-person meetings multiple times over the previous year, and have allegedly discussed rolling out medical marijuana under their in-house Life Brand.

If marijuana legalization ever sees the light of day in Canada, London Drugs has said they will consider selling prescription-based medical marijuana. Would pharmacists be able to give customers guidance on medical effects and the psychoactive high from medical weed the way a “budtender” does now?
Pharmacies aren’t the only businesses looking to profit from pot sales.
Meanwhile, Ontario premier Kathleen Wynne has said reiterated her position that recreational marijuana should be sold in liquor stores.
