Meet the intriguing Bond women of Spectre
All rights reservedTheir portrayal may not have always been very PC but women have always played a big part of the Bond franchise’s success and this latest video from the upcoming SPECTRE places take a look at the film’s female characters.
Director Sam Mendes also explained why he had cast the two actresses as Bond girls, saying: “In Spectre, the two women who Bond hooks up with – both have great mystery, they both have depths and for that you need fantastic actresses”. “I thought who else but Monica Bellucci”.
A cryptic message from the past sends James Bond (Daniel Craig) on a rogue mission to Mexico City and eventually Rome, where he meets Lucia Sciarra (Bellucci), the attractive and forbidden widow of an infamous criminal. If we were to make a guess we’d say that Bellucci probably has the smaller role here as she hasn’t appeared in much footage yet and certainly not in an action scene like Seydoux does.
Mendes continued to praise Bellucci saying: “She has a incredibly seductive presence in life and in the movie and I’m enthralled she’s in it”. This is a pivotal relationship so it could not have been a total newcomer. He starts to uncover he existence of a sinister organisation, Spectre, and infiltrates a secret meeting. “And she’s the sort of whole package, really”.
Bond is back soon, but as per usual, he’ll not only have a new baddie to face, but new beauties to tangle with.
Meanwhile Seydoux’s Madeline Swann, the daughter of Bond’s old nemesis Mr. White (Jesper Christensen), could be the key to 007 revealing the nefarious secret organization at the heart of Spectre. As the daughter of an assassin, she understands Bond in a way most others can not.
Spectre will be released in the UK on October 26, 2015.
