Meet the new face of the Mercedes SL
At the 2015 LA Auto Show, the facelifted SL will make its world debut.
People will always want more power, but if the AMG Sport version on other models is anything to go by (the C-Class, for instance), this newly developed niche in the Mercedes-Benz line-up might actually be the better choice for most customers, offering the ideal mix of comfort, performance, efficiency and acquisition price. As a result, it features a familiar chrome front grille as well as curved air intakes and a prominent central element on the lower section of the bumper.
Overall, the SL-Class isn’t bound for a major overhaul in any sense – if anything, what Mercedes-Benz has just shown us in this teaser image sums up the car’s most significant update, bar a few expected tweaks to the rear and interior. The entire grille seems to have been flipped upside down which imparts a more aggressive look to the SL. We’re not fans of the teasers, but we do love new cars and we generally enjoy auto shows.
Details concerning any possible changes to the engine lineup are not available at this point, but most of the units will likely be carried over. Mercedes is getting us excited to see the rest of the SL’s facelift thanks to this shadowy preview.
The current SL-Class is offered in four variants: the SL400 Roadster, the SL550 Roadster, the AMG SL63 Roadster, and the range-topping AMG SL65 Roadster.
