Megyn Kelly Previews Prime-time Special Interview with Donald Trump
“And it appears that things are all patched up”.
“I would not have done that”, Trump told Kelly in the pre-taped interview that aired on Fox News Tuesday.
Donald Trump has learned one lesson from his relentless tweeting throughout the 2016 campaign for the White House: Be careful what you retweet.
Kelly also gave Trump ample time to explain away nearly all of his transgressions, from his incendiary tweeting to his inflammatory rhetoric.
He said his initial thinking was that she was “very involved in the Cruz campaign, so that set her in the category of fair game for attacks”. The interview broadcast on Tuesday was decidedly not about policy.
“Not the most frightful thing”.
When asked about the insults he has hurled over the course of his campaign, including remarks about Sen. Kelly confronted Trump about some of his controversial comments, including calling women “fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals”.
“You seemed to stay angry for months”, Kelly replied. “That was the first question I’ve ever been asked during a debate, and I’ve never debated before…”
He did acknowledge that his retweets have gotten him into trouble. He also suggested that it was the first moment he realised he could have a realistic shot at the presidency. And, you know, you can correct the mistake but to look back and say: ‘Gee whiz, I wish I didn’t do this or that, ‘ I don’t think that’s good.
“When I’m wounded, I go after people hard”.
Trump calls the social media attacks a modern-day form of fighting back against someone who he feels has attacked him.
Heartwarming as all of this may be, Trump did reveal a few things about his run at the presidency and personal life that got the masses talking.
The two sat down for a much-ballyhooed interview that was the culmination – at least for now – of the frequent sparring between the now-presumptive Republican presidential nominee and one of the biggest stars on the conservative-leaning Fox News Channel.
Trump said that he couldn’t think of anything specifically but he would think about it and get back to her.
Kelly turned the question around, bringing up the subject of bullying, asking Trump whether he was ever bullied as a child.
He also said that the debate was the first time that he realized he could win. This interview shows you are the Leader we need. And after the special, he tweeted, in part: “Well, that is it”.
