Megyn Kelly Reportedly Called Trump ‘Voldemort’ Before the Debate
Will I get more votes? “Now that we’ve gotten the Donald Trump portion out of the way…”
Trump pulled out earlier this week, accusing Fox News, and particularly debate moderator Megyn Kelly, of treating him unfairly.
The smoke has cleared from Thursday night’s televised showdown between Donald Trump and the FOX News Republican debate, which he refused to attend.
Fox News made a statement to The Hollywood Reporter revealing perhaps another motive for Trump’s absence. Apparently, not so much.
Trump, the GOP presidential front-runner, threw an unexpected curveball into the 2016 campaign this week when he declared that he would boycott the debate amid an escalating feud with Fox News.
In the run-up to the event, Trump claimed Fox News apologized to him while the network claimed the Trump campaign asked for a $5 million donation to Trump’s charities.
Data shows Trump was the number-one candidate searched in all 50 states during the debate, even though he was not there.
“Apparently, Megyn Kelly is really, really scary”, Cruz joked.
Colbert acting as moderator started the event by asking the GOP frontrunner about his thoughts on the chances of presidential rival Ted Cruz.
Trump was riffing on the topic of immigration during an event in New Hampshire on Friday morning – three days before the Iowa caucuses – when he once again brought up Cruz’s Canadian birth. “When you’re treated badly, you have to stick up for your rights – whether we like it or not”.
“I don’t think you have to give up your liberty for a false sense of security”, said Sen.
Appearing at his own event in Des Moines, Iowa, Trump said that he couldn’t walk back his decision to skip the debate, despite what he said was a last minute plea by Fox to join the debate.
Examples of competing Trumpisms include, “No one likes Ted Cruz!” which clashes up against “I really do – I like Ted Cruz a lot”.
Former Florida governor Jeb Bush has been a frequent Trump target. Trump and a handful of legal scholars have suggested the Constitution’s “natural-born citizen” requirement requires the president be born on USA soil, and the issue has never been adjudicated in federal court. On Thursday night he parodied the leading Republican candidate, saying “I’m a maniac and everyone in this room is stupid, fat and ugly”, while he imitated the voice of the wealthy candidate.
