Megyn Kelly: Trump ‘Came After Me Like a Dog with a Bone’
“My attorneys have restricted me from commenting further – so suffice it to say that no good deed goes unpunished”, Ailes concludes. “What I think he was anxious about was his divorce from Ivana Trump”.
Kelly’s book also has caused some tension among her colleagues at Fox News.
Trump’s attacks on Kelly took a toll, personally and professionally.
In past interviews, Kelly has credited Ailes with being an advocate for her career.
“I was trying to figure out whether this was a serial issue or whether this was about me”, she said. My friend Sean Hannity, who is a big Trump booster as you know, he was not able to stand Trump down.
“Every time he started in, I’d get a call from Roger (who was getting calls from Trump)”, Kelly wrote.
When asked about claims made in Kelly’s book, O’Reilly said he hasn’t read it. So I would try to laugh it off or I would try to just make a comment about work to sort of get back on the straight and narrow. O’Reilly added. “I’m not interested in making my network look bad at all”. Kelly began to experience Trump’s wrath after the first Republican debate in August 2015 when Kelly asked Trump about his history of calling women dogs and pigs. “It wasn’t a delightful year”, Kelly said.
Kelly’s book also highlights accounts with her former Fox News boss Roger Ailes, who Kelly said harassed her starting in 2005.
On Wednesday, the online retailer notes some 73 percent of the reviews of Kelly’s new book gave it a one-star rating. But she said she was afraid – for her safety and her family’s and for her reputation as a journalist trying to cover the story and not be the story.
“If you take a look at people who you admire who have accomplished unbelievable things – Oprah, right?”
When Good Morning America host George Stephanopoulos pressed for details, Kelly said: ‘He tried to kiss me three time, so I rejected that. They posed arm in arm.
