Melaka CM says Dr M influenced into attending rally
Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein said today former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad had “crossed the line” with his presence yesterday at the Bersih 4 rally in Kuala Lumpur.
“Police reports against the wrong doings of the present leadership are not investigated”.
“This is caused by someone who is above the law and Constitution”, he said, hinting at prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. “Instead those lodging reports are harassed and investigated”, he said adding that in the past he was not a fan of demonstrations but things were different now.
“He (Dr Mahathir) has done something unusual (by attending the Bersih 4 rally) and I believe some irresponsible people are behind this”, he told reporters after attending the Melaka-level National Day celebration in Bandar Hilir here.
Mahathir too has repeatedly called on the prime minister to step down and accused him of numerous misdeeds.
They came clad in bright yellow T-shirts despite a ban on any attire of that colour or which bears the Bersih logo.
In Bangkok, a small group of Malaysian residents gathered in front of the Malaysian embassy on Sathon Road in solidarity with the rally in Kuala Lumpur.
