Melania Trump, agent of coat chaos
When asked whether the first lady had seen the images of detained children, Grisham said she had.
After sporting a not so subtle message on her jacket yesterday on the way to meet immigrant children that read, “I Really Don’t Care, Do U?”.
Thursday’s visit was one of two that the president’s wife made to the Texas facilities where some of the more than 2,300 migrant children are being housed after their families entered the us illegally.
In case you missed it, the first lady wore a coat that read “I really don’t care, do u” before going to visit undocumented-immigrant children separated from their parents at a detention center near the U.S. -Mexico border. Many of these kids were unaccompanied when they crossed the border, and others were separated from their parents.
Melania Trump sparked controversy as she donned the jacket saying: “I really don’t care, do u” (sic).
However, Melania’s outfit choice didn’t go unnoticed, as she boarded the plan bound for Texas wearing a jacket with the slogan “I really don’t care, do you?” emblazoned on it.
Now, clothing companies are selling T-shirts that are inspired by the jacket but tout an opposite message. Was it a carefully planned assault on “the fake news media”?
It was the most callous, pernicious article of clothing Melania has worn in public on perhaps the most important day of her career as first lady. But it wasn’t entirely clear what the white, graffiti-style lettering said. “The children were eager to learn and were kind and in good spirits”, the First Lady said in a statement after she returned to Washington, D.C. on Thursday.
Colbert played a video clip of Trump asking a staff member at a border facility about the maximum length of time a child might stay in the centre before reuniting with family members.

Anyway, here are some photos of Melania, who nearly definitely is aware that her jacket has sparked national outrage over a national heartbreak, walking to her vehicle on a hot day wearing said jacket. But by the time she landed in Houston, she has changed into sneakers, a crisp white shirt, and baseball cap. Donald, of course, also took to Twitter shortly after the news to give a different explanation that talked about how Melania chose to wear the jacket as a jab to the “fake media” but Melania, herself, never confirmed this. While we’re busy talking about the jacket, we’re not focusing on all the awful things the administration is doing.
