Melania Trump vouches that Donald Trump ‘respects women’
Melania Trump hit the campaign trail Thursday, giving her first speech on behalf of her husband since the Republican National Convention.
Our culture has gotten too mean & too rough, especially to children & teenagers.
She repeated a pledge in earlier interviews to make cyberbullying a focus of her time in the White House if she is first lady. Regarding children, Trump outlined what she says will be one of her main causes as first lady: fighting youth bullying, in person and online.
The announcement was met with raised eyebrows considering that her husband is known to habitually insult people via Twitter.
At least Melania Trump is not alone among Donald Trump surrogates who act like the Republican presidential nominee hasn’t said the things he has said – on Twitter and elsewhere.
At the time she was also winning the state by six percentage points in a four-way race, according to the RealClearPolitics average of polls. “I’m an immigrant and let me tell you no one values the freedom and opportunity more than me, both as an independent woman and someone that emigrated to America”. “I think she softens him a little bit”.
Numerous male Trump supporters in the athletic facility-turned campaign venue were merely excited about “making America great again” and chanting “lock her up”, in reference to Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
The speech took place in Berwyn, Pennsylvania – in the suburbs of Philadelphia – and was created to help Trump win over the middle-class women in the region who could tip the balance of Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes for Trump or Clinton.
Melania would be America’s first foreign-born first lady in almost two centuries since Louisa Adams, wife of John Quincy Adams, who was president from 1825-1829.
Of course, this is hardly the fault of Melania Trump alone. Women were asked to take off their high heels so they wouldn’t tear the turf, and they happily obliged, many holding pink “Women for Trump” signs. But Anderson Cooper counters that the problem starts in her own home – with her husband, Donald Trump.
No woman should have to choose between paying her rent or buying food, Mrs. Trump said, America “cannot afford to have more of the same”.
Melania Trump, who is the third wife of the Manhattan mogul, was introduced by Karen Pence, wife of Trump’s running-mate Mike Pence. (Within days, a campaign staffer resigned over the incident.) Even though Melania hasn’t taken the stage since then, her rare public appearances have still caused some kerfuffles. Mitt Romney, the 2012 GOP nominee, “choked like a dog”.
“After a 10-year process, which included many visas, I studied for the test and became a United States citizen”, she explained.
“What kind of country do we want?”
