Member of Queen’s Guard collapses during birthday ceremony
If you couldn’t make it across the pond for Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday, you’re in luck.
It was the 13-month-old royal’s first appearance in public since posing with the Queen and her other grandchildren and great-grandchildren for a special royal portrait in April – and featured her first ever royal wave.
Yesterday, Kate’s elegant look was the talk of the Queen’s 90th birthday after viewers noticed that she had recycled a stunning Alexander McQueen outfit. The celebrations started yesterday with a service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral.
The traditional parade was this year celebrating the monarch’s 90th birthday.
It is when a list of honours is issued, with this year’s recipients including 99-year-old singer Vera Lynn, who entertained British troops during World War Two, and Tim Peake, the first British astronaut to visit the International Space Station. “Through war and hardship, through turmoil and change, we have been fearfully and wonderfully sustained”. Prince Harry, Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla were also among the balcony attendees.
Princess Charlotte made her official debut on the balcony as the Royal Family observed an RAF flypast.
On Sunday, the Mall in front of the palace will host lunch for roughly 10,000 charity workers, patrons and members of the royal family.
A carnival-style parade will follow which will feature iconic moments from the Queen’s life and reign. and the celebrations will go on until 4.30pm. “The Queen’s pride in her role as your patron is absolute”.
Visible in her vibrant ensemble, the Queen smiled and waved to crowds as she was driven with the Duke of Edinburgh in an open-top carriage up the flag-lined Mall.
