Memorabilia Company Finds Way To Ruin That Heartfelt Wilmer Flores Moment
Remember that time Mets infielder Wilmer Flores cried in front of cameras in July because he thought he was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers? But the unforgettable sight of a teary-eyed Flores lives on in our minds, and one local memorabilia firm chose to cash in on the striking moment.
Brandon Steiner of Steiner Sports said that he didn’t think selling the photos was in bad taste and didn’t get any brushback from Flores about signing the photos. “I was sad, being a Met forever, I have all my teammates here, that’s why I got emotional”.
Steiner Sports has ruined everything by offering this for sale on its website – yep, an autographed photo of a crying Flores in the Mets’ dugout. If that trade had gone through, and Met fans had realized what they would have missed out on, we would all have been crying. But it was definitely a powerful snapshot that perfectly encapsulated the passion and the fervor of being a New York Met, one well-deserving of being immortalized.
After last night’s three-homer game, Yoenis Cespedes now has five homers, 15 RBI, 13 runs and a. 316 batting average in 79 at bats as a Met. Looks like that’s officially our Mount Rushmore of marquee moments in New York Mets history.
