Memorabilia firm hawking signed photos of Wilmer Flores crying
Just a few days before the trade deadline, Mets infielder Wilmer Flores made national news.
Steiner Sports offers autographed 8×10 photos of Flores “crying in the dugout” starting at $69.99.
“Why would he agree to sign those?” tweeted another.
“In the game I heard I was getting traded, and I got emotional, and when I came in, they told me there was no trade”, Flores said following the Mets’ 7-3 loss to the Padres that evening.
Well now you can have and hold that moment forever, thanks to Steiner Sports.
Brandon Steiner, CEO of the memorabilia company told ESPN that the image is “an emotional moment” that “showed how much he cared for playing for the team”. Word had circulated online and among fans that Flores and Mets pitcher Zack Wheeler were being sent to Milwaukee for outfielder Carlos Gomez.
The story of Wilmer Flores transcending tears to cheers is one that Mets fans will remember for years.
After last night’s three-homer game, Yoenis Cespedes now has five homers, 15 RBI, 13 runs and a. 316 batting average in 79 at bats as a Met. Looks like that’s officially our Mount Rushmore of marquee moments in New York Mets history. When the game was over, the Mets announced the trade didn’t happen because the team was concerned over Gomez’s health.
