Memorial for officer killed in Westminster terror attack
Before he stabbed Palmer, Masood ran down pedestrians in a 4×4 on Westminster Bridge in the bloodiest attack in the capital since the London bombings.
Four people were killed and at least 50 people from 12 different countries were injured in the terror attack outside Britain’s parliament on Wednesday.
Security Minister Ben Wallace, who helped coordinate the government response to Wednesday’s attack, has also been named to the Privy Council.
James Cleverly, a former Army colleague of Pc Palmer, told the newspaper: “I know it is probably the last thing he would want or seek but what Tobias did – the incredibly courageous and decisive action he took – deserves recognition which is why – just like Keith – he should also be considered for an award”.
Another wrote: “Remembering Keith as a very professional officer”. We served together in the Royal Artillery before he became a copper.
“I feel really sad, not because I have lost a friendship, but for his family, his wife and child”.
Khan’s note and flowers were placed outside of New Scotland Yard, the headquarters of the Metropolitan Police Force.
Hero MP Tobias Ellwood was among those who tried to save Pc Palmer’s life.
A chorus of thanks also came from politicians on all sides of the House.
HERO cop Keith Palmer could be awarded a posthumous medal to honour his bravery. “We should be proud to know such men”.
“We are also particularly saddened at the news of the passing of PC Keith Palmer, who died in the fearless execution of his duty”.
Masood’s victims included United States tourist Kurt Cochran and his wife Melissa who were on the last day of a trip celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary.
THE FAMILY of the police officer murdered in the Westminster terror attack say they have been “overwhelmed by love and support” since his death. I walked up to him and said “do you mind if I take a picture?’ He said ‘no problem”.
“I was a police officer at the time, in 2007. So I put my arms forward, and the vehicle just tumbled me over”. I was the passenger and he was one of the police officers who actually saved my life.
“Initially when he fell to the ground, I put him in the recovery position, checked his pulse, he had a weak pulse, he had an initial head wound and another in his arm and another near his rib cage, that I believe was the fatal one”.
One of the mothers at nearby Brookfields Primary School said her daughter was best friends with Masood’s, but added: “I always got the chills from him”.
