Memphis antics leaves Man Utd teammates unhappy
Man United assistant coach Ryan Giggs is not happy with Memphis Depay following his flat performances for the Red Devils, as per the Mirror.
The Dutch winger moved from PSV after an incredible past year, where he was top scorer in the league with 21 goals.
The 21-year-old was a virtual spectator at The Emirates as Arsenal destroyed United with three goals in the first 20 minutes and Depay was given the hook after failing to track back and help a defence that was struggling to cope with the Gunners’ forward movement. He was handed the iconic seven number jersey after the departure of Angel Di Maria from Old Trafford.
“There are a lot of games in Manchester”. United are now participating in four competitions so there are more than one game in a week. “There are very few rest days and on training days you are mainly concerned with recovering”, Depay told Dutch publication De Telegraaf.
However, Depay has conceded that he has struggled to adapt to the physical demands of English football, saying that his body must get used to the increased workload upon him. Louis van Gaal himself suggested that immediate miracles should not be expected from Depay when the latter joined the club.
“I try in my career to take many steps”.
Giggs, who also played left wing during his trophy-laden spell with the Red Devils, is said to be unhappy with Memphis’s attitude and told him to improve on and off the field, according to The Mirror. I think [leaving PSV] was the right step and I am happy in Manchester.
