Memphis Depay: Why I snubbed Bayern Munich to join Manchester United
Memphis Depay is “built like a tank” and will have no problems dealing with the physical nature of the Premier League, according to former Manchester United man Lou Macari. The Dutchman, wearing the no. 9 shirt for the tour, started behind Rooney in attack, just as Louis van Gaal had revealed he would at his pre-match press conference.
Memphis Depay has spoken of his happiness after making his Manchester United debut on Saturday morning.
There was one poor decision from Memphis where Ashley Young made a superb overlapping run which he chose to ignore but overall he should be very content with his United debut.
Depay is expected to make his Manchester United debut this coming weekend against Club America in the worldwide Champions Cup.
“I said watching certain games in the last two or three seasons that the bench was a bit weak but we’re going to have the strongest bench of any team in the Barclays Premier League this season, especially with the midfield players”. “It was important to win the game and we did that”.
Asked to name the world’s best coach, Depay told BILD: “I cannot say”.
On the differences he has noticed since joining United he concluded, “I think the speed of the game”. He expects much more from me as well and that’s important for me to work on. “I’ll keep focused and keep training hard”.
