Memphis player steals game ball after bowl game loss
Last year, it was the brutal brawl between Memphis and BYU after the Miami Beach Bowl.
Auburn (7-6) never allowed Lynch to get into a rhythm.
Video taken from the stands appears to show Ball take a game ball from the Auburn sideline. Lynch’s zero-touchdown, one-interception performance has been cast aside.
“I was hearing bits and pieces of what happen, they are in the dressing room sorting it out”, Dickey said. “Our offense only scored three points today”.
Auburn rushed for more yards in this game (251) than Memphis had in total yards (205). Ball had two interceptions and one tackle for a loss Wednesday.
However, all reports of the incident indicate Ball snatched a football out of the hands of the Auburn official before they ended up scrapping for it on the ground. They came into the game as a tough opponent, as a rivalry for me.
Actually, it was a thorough job by every phase of the Auburn team.
Sean White got the start at quarterback over Jeremy Johnson, and at first he was moving the offense well, but then Gus Malzahn dialed up some passing plays. “That was one of the big plays in the game to me”.
Those two scores turned a tie game into a 24-10 Auburn lead. He finished with 126 yards on 27 carries and also smashed his way to a fourth-down conversion to set up Johnson’s touchdown pass. “When he went into the game, he gave us great momentum”.
On Johnson, Robinson added: “He’s definitely a load to tackle, but I think I taught him a couple moves”.
The other big story, at least offensively, was the play of Auburn running back Jovon Robinson. He ran 17 yards on his second play from scrimmage and opened the fourth quarter with a 5-yard touchdown run on his third.
Johnson said he’ll be back to build on his game. “I know a lot of guys who play at Memphis”.
For the first time since the first half of the Louisville game to start the season the Auburn defense was healthy.
To be fair, the fake punt on the first drive of the game was attractive and helped Auburn take the early lead.
Memphis announced Wednesday night that defensive back Reggis Ball has been removed from the team for his actions after he made two interceptions in Wednesday’s Birmingham Bowl.
A few hours after the incident, Memphis released a statement regarding the incident, saying that Ball has been removed from the team.
