Mercedes-Benz Gets Naming Rights for Falcons Stadium
The luxury auto line will have its name attached to the Falcons’ venue when it opens in 2017. Falcons officials stated they have “no comment” on the report.
The news comes after the company already agreed to a 10-year naming rights deal for the Mercedes-Benz Superdome stadium, home of the Saints, in 2011. Details of the contract have not yet surfaced, but it was reported that Premier Partnerships, which brokered the deal, had been seeking a 30-year, multimillion-dollar contract “averaging in the high teens annually”.
The Falcons’ new stadium is under construction and set to feature an angular design and expandable seating that could accommodate as many as 83,000 people.
The new, $1.4 billion home of the Atlanta Falcons will open in time for the NFL’s 2017-18 season. It will also be home to Atlanta’s new pro soccer team. “This marks Mercedes” second NFL stadium – and second in the NFC South – for which it holds naming rights.
Mercedes-Benz moved its headquarters to Atlanta earlier this year.
