Mercedes stand-off holds traffic for 40 minutes
MOTORISTS were outraged yesterday as a road was blocked for 40 minutes when two Mercedes Drivers refused to give way to each other. You’ll be happy to know that the video is a “highlight reel” of sorts and isn’t the entire 40-minute ordeal.
Despite being surrounded by infuriated people the woman refused to budge, while the man was reportedly “too petrified” to move.
As the video shows other drivers and passersby try to convince the OAP driving the silver auto and the woman behind the wheel of the navy-coloured convertible to back down.
Speaking to MailOnline, Brad Haverly, 30, who shot the footage, said: ‘The woman was ignoring the comments that came her way and was in her own little world, adamant that she was in the right.
“My teenage daughter and her friend are walking home”, says another woman to the obstinate younger driver, “and if anything happens to her it will be your fault”.
An absurd standoff between two Mercedes drivers saw a huge queue of motorists stranded in front of a narrow bridge for the best part of an hour.
One Mercedes driver was already nearly two-thirds through the tunnel before another lady in her Mercedes decided that it was her right of way to go through as well. With the help of some kind yet clearly upset commuters, the elderly man finally backed up albeit at a odd angle and the entire incident was over.
A group of men then see the elderly man back, and shout in panic as he veers off the road without control and heads towards the wall of the tunnel.
The man was able to eventually reverse out of the tunnel in a straight line so motorists could return to their vehicles and get on with their day.
Police say they were made aware of the incident, but were informed that the road was cleared before they had the chance to arrive.
