Meredith Vieira’s NBC talk show gets the axe
The NBC daytime talk show hosted by Meredith Vieira began in 2014 and started off strong but will no longer continue after a marked decline in ratings. “And have a blast doing so!”
The NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution show will wrap production after its current second season, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The Meredith Vieira Show is coming to an end.
That said, don’t expect the ending of the show to be the end of Meredith Vieira.
Vieira earned a tremendous following as the moderator of ABC’s often-controversial talk show, “The View”, from its debut in 1997 to 2006.
Vieira won’t be idle after that: She will head to Rio de Janeiro to help cover the Summer Olympics, airing on NBC in August.
However, recently the show was averaging just 1.1million viewers per episode and was second to last in ratings out of 15 syndicated shows. The daytime show was originally commissioned for two seasons.

The Queen Latifah Show aired from 2013 to 2015, surviving two seasons of Queen singing lounge jams and welcoming guests like former President Bill Clinton to chat Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett. The Meredith Vieira Show failed to draw audiences as it competed with Ellen DeGeneres, Steve Harvey, Wendy Williams and Dr. Phil during afternoons.
