Merry Swiftmas! Taylor Swift Announces Exclusive Deal With Apple Music
Taylor Swift will present video of star-packed performances from her world tour exclusively on Apple’s subscription music service, starting next Sunday.
The singer announced the film, which will document the world tour for her album “1989”, on her Twitter the day after finishing touring. Apple quickly remedied the issue, and, if this announcement is any indication, appears to have officially joined Swift’s #squad.
While you may be wondering why this is a bad move for consumers, consider this – if every streaming music service has highly desired exclusive content, there is just no way to hear it all without subscribing to multiple services.
The arrangement represents quite a reversal from June, when Swift criticized Apple Music for not paying out royalties to artists during users’ free trial periods.
Taylor Swift performs during the Shanghai leg of her “1989” concert in Shanghai, November 10.
“Swift said that Apple was “disappointing” and she expected more from the company she thought was “generous” and historically progressive”.
Fans can tune into Beats 1 radio on Apple Music to hear more about the tour at 9 AM Pacific, 12 PM Eastern on the Apple Music exclusive radio station.
And Taylor also included a clip of the film in which she explained her dreams for the tour. Are they going to turn the video camera on?
Swift is not alone in battling the unfair policies of music streaming services.
Burguieres writes in an open letter on her Facebook that she reached out to Swift’s team in hopes of being compensated and credited for her work, but received no response.
Selena Gomez posted a photo of the pals together on Instagram and added the caption: “I don’t know life without you Taylor”.
Swift, who turned 26 on December 13, tweeted a trailer of the film on her birthday to her 67 million fans. She said that streaming services had shrunk the numbers of paid album sales. Meanwhile, according to reports, the “Blank Space” singer’s world tour concert grossed by mid-Oct. this year more the $170 million. Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
