Messi and Neymar miss Barcelona tour

Former FC Barcelona star Samuel Eto’o has thanked his former Catalan teammates Lionel Messi and Deco for their recent visit to Gabon.

Chilean goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano and Brazilian defender Dani Alves also won’t make the trip after participating in the Copa America, which Chile won.

Barcelona, fresh off winning the treble last season, is headed to the United States for its preseason, but Lionel Messi and Neymar won’t be coming.

Luis Suárez, who was suspended for Copa America as part of discipline for his bite of Giorgio Chiellini in the 2014 World Cup, headlines Barcelona’s squad along with Andres Iniesta and new signing Arda Turan.

Barcelona will begin its ICC tour with a match against Steven Gerrard and the Los Angeles Galaxy at the Rose Bowl on Wednesday, July 22.

They round off the tour with a game against Premier League champions Chelsea on Tuesday July 28 (1am Wednesday United Kingdom time) in Landover, Maryland.
