Mestre hails Bellerin to hint at Barca return
The reason that a deal must be agreed now is because Arsenal as previously reported, are set to offer him an improved contract [his current deal runs until 2019].
According to the Mirror, Robert Fernandez, Barca’s sporting director, has been in contact with the 21-year-old defender but the club are looking at other options if Bellerin can not be signed. “He’s a great player, there’s no doubt about that”.
Hector Bellerin is now said to be a strong target for former club Barcelona.
“(Arsenal manager Arsene) Wenger convinced him to move (in 2011) and promised him something which we couldn’t.
Speaking to SPORT the club’s vice president praised the Spanish global right-back suggesting he’d like to bring him back to the club he left at 16.
Since, the 21-year-old has become a Spain global and a fixture in Arsene Wenger’s teams – a fact that hasn’t gone unnoticed by Mestre, who could be keen to bring him back someday.
According to the IBTimes, via Spanish news outlet Sport, Barcelona vice-president Jordi Mestre believes it is the “Barcelona DNA” that Bellerin possesses that will see him return to the famous Camp Nou. “We could not promise that in two years he would play in the position of Dani Alves”.
The La Liga giants are on the lookout for a new right-back after Dani Alves joined Juventus on a free-transfer over the summer.
Bellerin, who is the first-choice right-back at Arsenal, has had his performances noticed after he made the PFA Team of the Year last term.
Mestre added: “Look at the cases of Cesc [Fabregas], [Gerard] Pique, [Jordi] Alba and Denis Suarez…”
It is positive to have quality minutes at other clubs.
In a concerning development for Arsenal fans, Bellerin moving to Barcelona makes sense.
