Met office issue yellow warning of rain and wind for Milton Keynes
The unsettled weather is due to an area of low pressure, but meteorologists are uncertain as to how intense it will be.
The low will then track up through the English Channel during the day on Friday, spreading an area of heavy rain eastwards across southern counties of England.
The Met Office has warned that much of the region could be faced with rain and gale force winds from tomorrow until Saturday.
Northerly winds may also strengthen considerably in the south-east and East Anglia before the rain clears.
“Trees are in full leaf at the moment so there is a risk that the winds could cause some damage”. Some places may see more than 60mm.
Localised flooding will be an issue, with wind blown leaves possibly blocking drains.
Strong winds and heavy rain could hit Surrey and north-east Hampshire from Friday lunchtime until Saturday morning.
The yellow warning will run from noon on Friday to 9am on Saturday.
A maximum temperature of 15C, and a minimum of 11C, has been forecast.
It will be a miserable start to the summer holidays as Kent braces itself for unseasonably wet and windy conditions.
