Metal Unibody Design Rumored For LG G5
The move towards using metal is not surprising and has been a tactic employed by many including Samsung after the vast success of the metal bodied iPhones. It’s something we go through every time a new flagship get teased, and that’s the case with the LG G5 design. When the rest of the smartphone world chose to rely on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810, or choose their own processors for flagship mobile devices, LG understood that sometimes its not about the highest performing chipset, but an important integration of critical features on a smartphone. Early signs of this have already surfaced, with the impressive new LG V10 that launched earlier this month.
LG’s biggest competitor, Samsung, has released four flagships this year, two smartphones and two tablets, and they all sport an all-metal build. Huawei, the third biggest smartphone OEM, has been manufacturing an all-metal phones for quite a few time now, and same can be said for Apple. While most flagship phones for 2015 have been covered in metal or glass, the LG G4 employed a plastic build offering a variety of customization options, including a comfortable leather back panel. It is said that the new design will differentiate LG from the competition. Combine the leaks from September, the metal frame rumors of today, and the recent changes to the LG V10, and below is a good example of what could be the LG G5 in 2016. This is all purely speculation. However, many manufacturers are simply headed in the direction of the most popular trends.
As for a release date, the LG G5 release is still a complete mystery. The Korean sources mentioned above did state the LG G5 will be released inside of Q1 2016, which would be before the end of March.
