Metallica to release first album in 8 years
The band announced Thursday its releasing its first album in eight years.
“Hardwired” marks the first new music exclusively from Metallica (so, not counting Lulu, their 2011 experimental collaborative album with Lou Reed), and their studio follow-up to 2008’s Death Magnetic.
“The album’s not actually finished”, notes drummer Lars Ulrich on the progress of the new project. It was produced by the same engineer who produced their previous album, Greg Fidelman, and Ulrich and Hetfield. Doesn’t feel like it! Were obviously beyond psyched to share new tunes with all our friends out there.
“We can not wait to hit the road to play these songs live and get in your faces once again”, the band’s statement read, “so strap yourselves in”.
But, through the mist and the madness (a sneaky reference for all you hardcore Metallifux there), we were reminded of this video posted a couple of weeks back by Music is Win.
If it seems like Metallica hasn’t knocked out an album in ages, that’s because Metallica hasn’t knocked out an album in ages. There’s also a special deluxe version which has 14 songs.
Disc one 1 Hardwired 2 Atlas, Rise!
I can’t say that there was a magical moment where we’re listening to “Metal Militia” and wrote a song. Confusion 2. Dream No More 3.
Disc Three 1. Lords Of Summer 2. 91 (Riff Origins) 10.
