Metro Atlanta could see $2/gallon gas by Christmas

It’s estimated there are now more than 500 service stations across the country that sell gas for less than $2 dollars a gallon.

Plunging oil prices continue to place downward pressure on prices at the pump.

Gas prices in Michigan are falling after a spike two weeks ago due to problems at BP’s refinery in Whiting, Indiana.

AAA spokesman Josh Carrasco says “After Labor Day we normally see a drop in gasoline demand as we head out of the busy summer driving season”.

Oil prices in June, 2015 were $60/barrel and now they are at a low of $43/barrel.

Nationally, prices fell 7.1 cents a gallon in the last week, to $2.60 a gallon, GasBuddy said in a statement.

In the St. Louis region, Sunday morning, Gas Buddy.com reported prices running around $2.19 per gallon.

Elsewhere, the West Coast saw prices decline, along with the Gulf Coast, East Coast and Rockies – virtually everyone saw gasoline prices fall in the last week. That’s about 66 cents less than at the same point a year earlier.
