Metrorail service disrupted on 3 lines
The stations closed about 7:30 a.m. when smoke was reported at a Metro-owned traction power substation in a lot near RFK Stadium. The transit agency says residual delays may continue during the afternoon and evening rush hour. Because of this, trains will operate at lower speeds in the area.
Service on the DC Metro’s Orange, Silver and Blue lines has been disrupted Monday morning due to fire department activity at the Stadium-Armory stop, which is located in Southeast DC, according to WMATA.
Wilson said 20 vehicles were dispatched to the scene in the morning.
Metro says full service has restored on three subway lines affected by a fire at a power substation.
Before Pope Francis arrives, some residents may have to get to other big-crowd events first: The Nationals and Capitals play at home tonight, the latter in a pre-season game at Verizon Center.
Metro says bus service has been requested between Eastern Market and Minnesota Avenue and between Eastern Market and Benning Road.
Buses were put in place between Eastern Market, Minnesota Ave and Benning Road.
Blue Line: Consider Yellow Line and transfer at L’Enfant Plaza.
