Mets move within a win of NLCS
The Los Angeles Dodgers stand along the third base line during the national anthem before the start of baseball’s Game 3 of the National League Division Series against the New York Mets, Monday, October 12, 2015, in New York.
“We knew the biggest thing going in was coming out on top and scoring as many runs as we did kind of did all the talking”, he said after the 13-7 victory gave the Mets a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series. Utley was booed lustily when he was introduced. The Mets are playing for Rueben Tejada.

What did Utley think of the reception?
Revved-up fans showed up early hungry for payback against Utley, left out of the lineup despite strong career numbers versus Harvey (6 for 18 with a home run). His agent, Joel Wolfe, said “a two-game suspension for a legal baseball play is outrageous and completely unacceptable”.
“We have been in discussions with the Players Association throughout the year regarding potential rule changes to better protect middle infielders, and we intend to continue those discussions this offseason”.
In only his second big-league start on July 5, Matz limited the Dodgers to two hits in six shutout innings, striking out eight, and Mattingly has the video to remind him, he said. All Mattingly could say after Monday night’s game was that Brett Anderson and Alex Wood have been “OK”.
Umpires ruled the play legal during the game, but Major League Baseball announced the two-game suspension for Utley on Sunday night. He hit.255/.322/.436 with 11 home runs in 79 games in the regular season, including.279/.380/.544 with five home runs and three doubles in 79 plate appearances against left-handed pitchers. Unfortunately for Los Angeles, they have been eliminated each and every time.
However, any confidence and cushion they had were immediately erased as four runs for the Mets gave them the lead when the inning was eventually over.
“Donnie and I totally agreed”.
“Kershaw and Greinke were not good enough to win 90 games by themselves”, Dodgers shortstop Jimmy Rollins said. There’s going to be someone who slides, makes a amusing slide or something, and it’s all part of the game.
Rose became a Mets enemy in Game 3 of the 1973 NL Championship Series at Shea Stadium, when he took out shortstop Bud Harrelson trying to break up a double play, leading in turn to a brawl. Still, none of it was as edgy as the reception that John Rocker earned in 2000 with comments about New York City. No team has plunked him more than the Mets (28 times).
The emphasis here is that contact with the fielder comes after the slide, not before, which was the case with Utley, who basically abandoned the base and targeted Tejada. “They will do what they always do – what major league teams are supposed to do – go out, play hard”.
Granderson, on the other hand, has quietly been one of the Mets’ most steady performers throughout the year, and he remained reliable Monday in a 2-for-5 effort with five RBIs. “Now my teammates and I are focused on Game 3 and doing everything we can to win this series”.
