Mexican government investigating meeting between ‘El Chapo’ and Sean Penn
‘I’ll take care of you, ‘ he adds.
El Chapo, who is now in solitary confinement, has been being chased by the Mexican government for 6 months after escaping from prison for the second time.
Another official said that Guzman, aged 58, used the codename “hermosa” [“beautiful”] when referring to the actress, who became famous for her role as a drug lord in the TV series “The Queen of the South”.
“I’m not a drinker but your presence is going to be something attractive. You’ll know my story when we have time to speak, but for some reason I feel safe and I know you know who I am, not as an actress or public figure, but as a woman, as a person”.
In the photographs, Penn, wearing dark glasses and a baseball cap, is shown arriving with del Castillo at an airport, then at a hotel, and greeting the men who apparently took them to a small airstrip, from which they flew to the jungle camp to meet Guzman.
Two government officials told AFP that the text messages leaked to Milenio were authentic. “Even when Guzman dedicated a video statement as an “exclusive for” Del Castillo and Penn, the drug lord stumbles over Penn’s first name, pronouncing it ‘SAY-ahn”.
“I could say as an estimate that it could be at least a year”, Merino told Radio Formula. As he flew to Mexico for the meeting, he wrote, “I see no spying eyes, but I assume they are there”. “I think Penn has violated this law and can be charged with that”.
“I will have everything “super” so that you won’t have to worry about any details, which would be make me feel bad”.
“What a nice birthday gift!”
“Thank you for your support over the past days”.
Officials said Tuesday that Guzman’s “almost obsessive” desire to see Del Castillo again contributed to his recapture last Friday in Los Mochis, a seaside city in his northwestern home state of Sinaloa.
But on Monday, the authorities proudly showed journalists around the house Guzman had been hiding in in Los Mochis.
El Chapo was pinched on Friday, six months after he broke out of the maximum security prison near Mexico City that’s holding him now.
Sanchez said the government “regrets any acts of collaboration between any citizen and members of organized crime” or that a Mexican citizen “does not share” information that would help arrest a criminal. The Mexican Attorney General said Guzman’s recapture came after a huge surveillance operation.
