Mexico beat Honduras to earn semifinal date with Jamaica in Gold Cup
After facing off in the semifinal of the 2015 Gold Cup, the United States and Jamaica will meet again in the final of the 2017 Gold Cup.
The crowd was dominated by Mexico’s vast Southern California fan base, but the Rose Bowl was less than half-full with just 42,393 fans.
Jesus Molina’s second-half injury will be of concern; the Monterrey player was crucial in breaking up Honduras’ rare attacks.
It’s also been a significant time for Canada, who hadn’t scored in a Gold Cup match since 2011 until the start of this tournament.

The other semifinal is Saturday between the United States and Costa Rica.

The star, as so often for Jamaica these days, was Philadelphia Union goalkeeper and captain Andre Blake. Blake was credited with five saves.
Perhaps his best came in the 66th minute when he punched away a well-struck shot from Angel Sepulveda from 18 yards out.
“The speed we have, I think the Canadian backline was a bit slow and I think we exploited that with Mattocks, Gordon (Owayne) and Romario Williams, and I believe Mattocks was very unlucky today to not get on the scoresheet, but as I have said, a win is a win and we did enough”. “But we needed to be more creative the last pass”. They’re a team we have to give a lot of respect to over the years.
Osario will watch from a suite, serving the fourth of a six-game suspension assessed by Federation Internationale de Football Association for his use of “insulting words” toward officials during a Confederations Cup match against Portugal.
And Mexico will likely be plunged into the usual inquisition when the deepest and most talented program in the region fails to demonstrate that superiority on the field. “Everyone is free to have an opinion on if this is failure or not”. “But we had to get to the 23-man final roster”.
