MI Fugitive Wanted for Murder Caught in Carlton County
Authorities in northern Minnesota say they’ve arrested a man wanted in MI in connection to an arson and homicide.
MI State Police say a homicide suspect from lower MI was arrested Monday morning in Carlton County, Minnesota. But when the trooper flipped on his lights, Rose sped off, driving on the wrong side of the road and leading officers from multiple agencies on a chase along county and township roads, as well as a bike trail.
MI prosecutors announced that Rose is facing five charges including first degree home invasion, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, assault with a unsafe weapon, unlawful driving away of an automobile, and tampering with an electronic monitoring device.
Fire damage to the roof of the home could easily be seen as a state police K-9 vehicle with dogs inside and several fire department vehicles lined the rural street and investigators and firefighters walked the property.
The 46-year-old Rose also is a suspect in a fire that occurred Friday in Greendale Township.
An elderly woman was found dead inside the home.
He had recently been paroled on a 30-year prison sentence for armed robbery and sexual assault that took place in the 1980s.
MI State Police say Rose fled the crime scene in the victim’s vehicle, a 2004 White Ford Escape with MI plates BMV-4646. The incident remains under investigation, and Carlton County Sheriff’s Deputies are working closely with authorities in MI and Wisconsin.
