Miami Heat fear blood clots for Chris Bosh
Bosh pulled out of the All-Star Game and 3-point contest on Friday because of the concerns of a potential blood clot. “Too soon to report that”.
Chris Bosh’s agent says it is too early to say whether the Miami Heat centre has suffered a recurrence of blood clots in his calf.
A source told the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, meanwhile, that Heat officials do not believe Bosh’s life is at risk and that there was no indication the clots had again traveled to his lungs, instead remaining in his calf.
The Heat did not comment Monday about Bosh’s condition. Prior to the 2000-01 season franchise center Alonzo Mourning was diagnosed with the kidney disease Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis, which caused him to miss the first five months of that year. He has since returned to Miami for additional medical tests, and those tests may have indicated something quite serious: a return of Bosh’s blood clots.
“I’m pretty optimistic”, he said.
“As an athlete, we try to keep going with some things, treating it”, Bosh said Saturday. “And I didn’t feel it was wise to continue to push it, especially with this elongated week that we have off. I just wanted to make sure I was taking the necessary precautions and being a good professional”.
Meanwhile, beyond the more important matter of Bosh’s personal health and well being, the Heat would be in considerable trouble if Bosh were to miss significant time. He’s averaging 19.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game this season.
“It’s about his family and he has to make sure he does everything right”, Wade said.
