Miami Heat Thank Dwyane Wade With Tribute Video
After Wade’s new team, the Bulls, arrives in South Florida after Wednesday night’s game against the Hawks, the most productive player in Heat history will, “sleep in my bed for about three hours”. After the standing ovation which followed playing of a video in his honor, Wade went to the floor and blew kisses to the spectators. Later that night, the tribute was posted on Miami Heat’s official Facebook and Twitter account @MiamiHEAT captioned, “Thank you for 13 unforgettable years @DwyaneWade!”
And the Heat didn’t enjoy this one.
Wade has stayed in touch with many around the Heat.
“It’s so many emotions coming back here”, Wade said. He joined the Chicago Bulls, but his Bulls career would not start off in such a historic way as his time in Miami.
If he did, it worked.
Opposite side of the building, Wade said. “This year? He’s selling it”. Jimmy Butler of the Bulls led the game in scoring with 20 points on 5 for 11 shooting. He scored just 13 points on 5-for-17 from the field, probably his weakest offensive performance of the season. The Chicago Bulls are shooting 35.9 percent from beyond the arc and 80.9 percent from the free throw line. I imagine he and Pat Riley, just like Riley and LeBron, are no longer friends or even something close to that.
“I thought Danny was great”, Popovich said. “I’m sure he watches our games”. I love to see them progressing.
The Rockets were 10 for 30 on 3-pointers and shot 47 percent overall. Doug McDermott scored 13 for the Bulls, and Nikola Mirotic added 10.
From the Heat there were 16 points from Dion Waiters, 15 from Justise Winslow, 14 from Tyler Johnson and 16 from Josh Richardson. Though when the Heat didn’t score the last three minutes it was 70-70 going into the fourth quarter.
“It was more so seeing so many familiar faces that you’ve been seeing for years sitting in certain seats”, Wade said.
Wade had 13 points, but did his part with two pressure free throws with 1:37 remaining and the Bulls holding on to a 94-92 lead. Maybe just an official statement from Wade to something everyone knew: The Heat had different priorities.
“The X-ray is negative, so that’s a good sign”, Dragic said.
“Everybody going to be fired up”, Heat center Hassan Whiteside said.
The positive for Dragic and the Heat is the X-ray on his ankle came back negative.
Wade had helped bring three National Basketball Association titles to Miami and had on more than one occasion taken pay cuts to stay in Miami and get the job done. “Let me get 1-on-1 with UD, that’s what I’ve been waiting on”.
“He’ll handle it fine”, Spoelstra said. Especially for Chicago Bulls fans.
Heat: Host Utah on Saturday. The last team to open with such an arduous schedule was Cleveland in 1970-71.
This story has been corrected to show Rajon Rondo had 12 rebounds, not 12 assists.
