Miami’s Winslow keeps impressing in rookie season
Forward Chris Bosh led the Heat with 31 points and 11 rebounds, and Wade added 27 points and eight boards as Miami (21-13) won its third consecutive game.
Paul George scored 32 points on 12-for-29 shooting for IN, but his three-point try from the right corner bounced off the rim on the game’s final play. Winslow has a ways to go offensively, but by the time the Heat are done with Luol Deng he should be ready to thrive.
IN twice recorded home victories over Miami this season, winning the first meeting by three points and the second by 13.
That was a factor Monday as IN blew an 18-point, third-quarter lead.
IN led by 18 in the third before the Heat roared back, an 18-3 run setting the tone.
Bosh made the second of his two, putting Miami up 103-100 with 3.9 seconds left in the extra session. The Heat are 2.5 point favorites in what should be a closely contested contest between two playoff-caliber teams. Wade’s basket as time expired tied the game 95-95, with the Heat winning 103-100 in overtime at AmericanAirlines Arena.
There was a delay of almost half an hour at the start because of a lighting malfunction before tip-off, then overtime at the finish.
Miami’s offense was delayed, too. If he is unable to go, expect George to play even a point-forward role, while Rodney Stuckey will get the start at the 1.
“He’s our Benjamin Button”, coach Erik Spoelstra said of Wade. A highlight-caliber dunk was the payoff for that move, Wade elevating to catch a half-court alley-oop pass from Dragic.
The Pacers stopped a two-game losing streak by defeating the Detroit Pistons 94-82 last night, and this game will be the second of their back-to-back.
IN raced to double-digits leads again in the third quarter including their biggest advantage, 70-52 halfway through the same quarter.
Crowder had 14 points in the first quarter, then was largely quiet until hitting a 3-pointer and adding a three-point play after Brooklyn got close in the final minutes.
NOTES: Pacers PG George Hill (food poisoning) sat out. The game finally tipped off at 8:08 p.m., but the late start did not hinder the Pacers’ shooting. Heat C Hassan Whiteside (bruised knee) sat out a game for the first time this season.
Instead, Bosh got intentionally fouled after collecting the loose ball.
