Michael B. Jordan: ‘Black Panther shows black kids they can be superheroes’
With less humor but no less family drama than the recent Marvel-movie predecessors “Thor: Ragnarok” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”, this first film starring comics’ first black superhero is as political as it is fanciful.
Set shortly after Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther will see T’Challa returning home to the isolated, technologically-advanced African nation of Wakanda to become king.
The black-market arms dealer Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis) is in Busan to sell a stolen piece of precious Wakandan vibranium to an American, and the heroic trio is on the case. If there’s one true revelation in the film it may be Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia. “They’re women who can break your neck”.
Daniel Kaluuya, who was recently nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars for the groundbreaking horror “Get Out” believes that “Black Panther” has the same elements to break the boundaries of cinema.
Look out for a “Hobbit” reunion.. We are not saying you should act like you liked it; we are saying if you have nothing nice to say, then don’t say anything at all. Meanwhile, Ross gets his world rocked when aligning with T’Challa. However, Marvel looks like it’s on to another victor as Black Panther reviews are glowing. “Genuine awe is nice to play”.
Chadwick Boseman and the cast explain why the movie is part of a powerful cultural movement. As T’Challa is later told, “You can’t let your father’s mistakes define who you are”. “Will there be any trouble tonight, Ms. Probably not”, Boseman said. “You don’t have to have hair to be handsome”. A nation of peace and prosperity, Wakanda was created to represent what the continent might have been had colonization never happened.
The fictional Wakanda is an wonderful place. Leaders are usually misunderstood because they have more information and there are reasons why you made a decision that you made. “I have grandkids myself who do the comic book thing”.
