Michael-Kidd Gilchrist out 6 months due to shoulder surgery
Whether he’s out until March or for the rest of the season (the more likely scenario), Michael Kidd-Gilchrist’s injury is a major blow to the Charlotte Hornets and their plans for next season.
In unfortunate National Basketball Association news, the Charlotte Hornets will lost forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist due to a shoulder injury.
Kidd-Gilchrist suffered a separated right shoulder in Saturday’s preseason victory over Orlando, and an MRI on Monday in Charlotte revealed the need for surgery.
With this, Kidd-Gilchrist’s 2015-16 season is pretty much done even before it started.
He will meet with doctors on Tuesday to determine his road to recovery. As stated in the report, it’s possible Kidd-Gilchrist could be back in time for the postseason, but that means the Hornets will have to secure their playoff bid without him in the lineup, which won’t be an easy task.
Just last month, he inked a -million contract extension which will keep him in Charlotte for four more years.
Scoring only 31 points in the second half continues the trend of last season, when the Heat just couldn’t buy a basket in the third quarters of crucial losses. MKG fell on the floor before standing up and grabbing his shoulder.
The contrast was just as blatant in the standings: 28-29 with MKG, 5-20 without. The team said an update on his status will be provided when available.
“You can look at MKG’s 10.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game and think of the perception that his jumper is totally ruined, but bear in mind with Kidd-Gilchrist it’s the dimension he gave them with a slashing, athletic forward who was a terror in full court and on defense, CBS articulated”.
Kidd-Gilchrist had even come to embody an organisation making bold changes in an attempt to push to the forefront.
Batum can start at small forward, his primary position in Portland, but while creating a hole at shooting guard that will be left to Jeremy Lamb, P.J. Hairston, Troy Danielsand maybe a few Jeremy Lin.
