Michelle Dockery says goodbye to ‘Downton Abbey’
He said: “It wouldn’t surprise me if it had some afterlife because it’s been such a strong force. That’s it”, he said.
American viewers don’t have to wait until January to witness the last days of Downton Abbey.
“I think this show has quietly waved a flag for Britain overseas as the success of the show has proceeded around the world, so it’s wonderful that BAFTA is saying, ‘We acknowledge that, ‘ and it’s the end of an era for us”, said Bonneville ahead of the ceremony.
Froggatt returned the favor, pulling her best stern face to match Bates’s grim demeanor.
It read: “Today is the latest day of what has been the most magnificent 6 years of my life”.
On whether he would want to be involved with Downton Abbey returning in another form in future, its creator added: “Ooh, I’m not sure I could trust my baby to another nurse!”
This sentiment was mirrored by High Bonneville, who plays Dockery’s on-screen father – head of the household Lord Robert Grantham, who took to Twitter to share a link to his own blog page where he shared some snaps of those incredibly people behind the scenes who have helped bring the phenomenal show to life.
“I’ve started already. That’s my ritual at the end of Downton, so no more getting up and shaving at 5am”.
“We’ve been blessed by having a writer who’s got a fund of stories to play with, and these characters that have been fully-formed over the last six years”. I think a Downton motion picture could be a heavenly thing.
Both decked out in formalwear-would you expect anything less?-the two posed at a special BAFTA event in Richmond, England, on Tuesday night that celebrated the period drama.
The special tribute, hosted by Jonathan Ross, will air on ITV later this year.
We appear to be in the final week of photography on Downton Abbey season 6, if new photos from the set of the Edwardian series are any indication.
